Mary Eloise Bamburg Collins, Sweetheart, Wife, Mama, Elo, Gang-Gang, Grandma, Big Maw was born on March 20, 1921 in Eros, Louisiana to Herman L. and Cora Bell Bamburg. The family moved to Houston in the fall of 1929. She was a proud member and flag carrier of the Sam Houston High School Black Batallion and graduate of the class of 1939. She was also a graduate of Southwestern Business School.
On January 29, 1940, Eloise married Patrick Thomas Collins whom she would continue to love until her last breath at 5:06 p.m. on March 19, 2013. As she loved him, she loved us all, “like Jesus does”.........unconditionally and without bounds until her dying day.
Eloise was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and their Thursday Club.
