Mary Lee Blake was born in Waskom, Texas, on January 29, 1926, to Charlie and Estella Ragland Blake. Her early acceptance of Christ led her to attend St. Mary Baptist Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico (Rev. Willie Holly).
During her time in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Mary attended Public School. Her career spanned more than 20 years in Alamogordo. After moving to Houston in 1970, she continued to work until she reached the age of 67. The most enjoyable part of her life was being with family, caring for her grandchildren, and dancing. Her 97th birthday this year, she danced her last dance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Herbert and Larry, daughter Teresa, two grandchildren Bessica and Billy, and her five siblings, Charlene, RD, Beatrice, Ray, and James.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Barbara Jean Long, Annett Atkinson (Hollis) and Linda Kirk (Alvin); four daughters, Mildred Kinsey, Patricia Parks (George), Eleanor Alcorn (Ronnie), and Beverly Stackhouse; six sons, Ulysses Wagner (Chris), Lester Sanders (Donita), Charles Blake, Gary Blake, James Stackhouse (Dorlice), and Tommie Blake (Denise); 26 Grandchildren; 57 Great Grandchildren; 20 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and friends.
A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. Funeral services will immediately follow. The committal will be from 3:45 PM to 4:15 PM at PARADISE NORTH CEMETERY, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
