Mary Helen Aguilar of Houston, TX passed away on the 10th of April 2024 at the age of 75. She was born on the 10th of May 1948 in San Juan, TX. In her early childhood, she moved to Houston, TX where she lived her whole life. She graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in 1967.
Mary Helen worked as a librarian assistant and textbook coordinator at The Rice School for 20 years. She was passionate and took pride in her job. She always went above and beyond for her many friends and co-workers; she loved putting a smile on everyone’s face.
Mary Helen was actively involved in attending mass at The Catholic Charismatic Center, where she enjoyed their services for many years. In her early years she was a folkloric dancer, where she made some of her best memories. Mary Helen was the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, coworker, and friend that anyone could have asked for. She had a beautiful charismatic soul and spent her entire life caring for those she loved. She always made sure her loved ones were taken care of, especially her grandchildren, she loved them as if they were her own. She had the sweetest smile and always knew how to light up a room. She was huge movie buff, some of her favorites include western movies, Legally Blonde, Gidget, and Ever After. She loved her fur-grandchildren; Diamond, Brody, Zoey, and Luna. She would often buy them treats and toys and loved playing catch with them. Mary was a strong woman gave battled and gave her all to recover from her illness.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leonso Mata and Maria Aurora Mata, her daughter Jennifer Marie Flores, and her brothers Richard Mata and Alfonso Mata. She is survived by her husband Benedicto Aguilar, her daughter Natalie Ann Aguilar (William Solorzano), her grandchildren Lauren Marie Aramburo, Ricardo Aramburo Jr, and Adrian Aramburo. She is survived by her sisters, several nieces and nephews.
The Aguilar family would like to give a special thanks to The Solorzano family, The Rice School/ La Escuela Rice, and the rest of our family and friends for the love and support in our time of need. But most of all her granddaughter Lauren Marie Aramburo, who spent most of her time caring for her and showing her love and support, while she battled her sickness.
Family will be receiving family and friends on Tuesday April the 23rd of 2024 from 5-8pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, located at 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX 77023. The Rosary for Mary will begin at 7pm.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday April the 24th of 2024 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 7250 Harrisburg BLVD. Houston, TX 77011. Funeral Services will start at 12pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
