Marvin Charles Yoder, Jr. was born to Marvin C. Yoder and Golden (Busler) Yoder on October 28, 1917 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He died peacefully after a short illness on May 16, 2012 in Houston, Texas.
Marvin left college and joined the Army on July 14, 1943, entering active service on July 28, 1943 in the 688th Engineering Base Equipment Company. He served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged on February 25, 1946. He completed his education at the University of Pittsburg and married Velma and moved to Houston in 1954.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma P. (Van Deusen) Yoder; son, Marvin C. Yoder, III and brother, Nelson Yoder. Marvin leaves his son, Frederick V. Yoder and wife Martha; three grandchildren, Janice, Cyndi and Timothy and three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Joseph and Jenny.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 5 to 7pm at Pat H. Foley. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pat H. Foley. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Yoder, James Yoder, Wynne Yoder, Daniel Yoder, Timothy Niederhofer, John Soos, Joseph Soos, and Travis Jolly.
