Martha’s life journey began Saturday, April 8, 1922, in Hungerford, Texas, Wharton County. She was born to John C. Sula and Libby Baca Sula. She is preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Lewis Creswell; daughter, Shirley C. Dunn and husband Bob; son, John Creswell; sister, Georgia Covert and husband Tom; sister, Lee Carville and husband Tom; brother, Bill Sula and wife Kay; special cousin, Justin V. Ripple, Jr.; special pet, Gretel, and by her husband of 38 years, Henry Jordan. Martha is survived by nieces: Carol, Judy and Mary Jo; nephews: Chris, Kurt, Lem, David, Wayne, Mike, Billy and Wayne, and a sister-in-law, Marie Creswell.
Martha was a strong person and dealt with her destiny as she faithfully pursued her journey. She was a devoted mother and her best times were spent with her children. They always came first to her.
When God called her children before her, she continued on her journey until she joined them.
Martha was a private person and she loved the outdoors. She enjoyed making her patio beautiful with blooming flowers, mainly sweat peas and yellow roses.
Martha was very proud of her Czech heritage. Her family was hard-working, happy, loved music, and she played a mean game of 42 dominoes. Martha’s dad played the drums in a band and her mother played the accordion. Her grandfather, Frank Baca, Jr., and his father, Frank Baca, Sr., played in the Famous Baca Band in the early years. None of the kids could play pots or pans!
Martha lived in Alvin, Texas for over 50 years. She worked at Red Cross Drug, Inc. for 40 years, Rexall Drug for 5 years, was a member of the Eastern Star, Alvin Chapter No. 15 for 50 years, a member of Grace Episcopal Church where she was an active member of the Alter Guild, and worked with the Girl and Boy Scouts of America.
Martha was an avid sports fan and her love for Texas Aggie Football spanned 60 years.
Martha retired in 1989 and moved to Houston to be with her daughter, Shirley. Her Life Journey ended in Houston on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
It was her wish to have no memorial or funeral service. Instead, her ashes will be lovingly spread under an oak tree she planted, 69 years ago, in Gonzalez, TX.
Her life was full and she savored much; good friends, a loved ones touch, and memories of Aggie and Longhorn friends she took with her.
“Be not burdened with time of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of morrow.”
Love you all, Martha
