Martha Delores Bauer, a beacon of love and warmth, peacefully entered the arms of the Lord on November 18, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on July 18, 1936, in Taylor, Texas, Martha lived a life brimming with devotion, joy, and an unshakable commitment to her family. She now reunites in heaven with her beloved children, whom she missed dearly.
On November 27, 1952, Martha married the love of her life, Carl Bauer, and together they shared a remarkable 72 years of steadfast partnership. Their journey together was nothing short of extraordinary, beginning with Carl’s service in the Air Force, which led them to create cherished memories across the world, raising their family in Holland, Germany, and Japan. When the time came to plant roots, they chose Houston, Texas.
Martha’s life was a testament to selflessness and care. She was a gifted baker and an expert at canning, talents she passed down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with patience and joy. Her kitchen was a haven, always brimming with the aroma of something delicious and the sound of happy chatter. Christmas and Thanksgiving were her masterpieces—she poured her heart into creating unforgettable celebrations where every family member felt treasured and adored.
Her sewing room was her sanctuary, where she brought her creativity to life with every stitch. Her handmade cup towels, that you would often find her working on while relaxing in her recliner, were lovingly crafted and gifted year after year. They became symbols of her enduring love and thoughtfulness.
To her husband, she was “Mott,” a name spoken with deep affection. To her nieces and nephews, she was “Aunt Mott,” always ready with open arms. But the name that brought her the most joy was “Nanny.” As the proud grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 19, Martha found immense happiness in spoiling her grandkids and great-grandkids, weaving her legacy into their hearts.
Martha was the cornerstone of a large, loving family, always rallying her relatives together for annual reunions filled with laughter and shared memories. She treasured those gatherings deeply, ensuring no one ever felt left out or left hungry. Her fun-loving spirit was undeniable—whether organizing reunions, sneaking away for a game of bingo, or trying her luck at the slots, she embraced life with a sense of adventure.
Martha is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Bauer, and her son, Jack Bauer. Her cherished legacy lives on in her grandchildren Misty & Gary Warner, Lori & Robert Reyes, Jeff Riley & Curtis Braly, Steve & Liz Bauer, Paul Ray Malin Jr., Kim & Dale Leinweber, Shelly Malin, and Kristen Watson, along with her numerous great-grandchildren.
She is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her daughters, Vivian Riley and Joan Malin; her son, Don Bauer; and her great-grandson, Kagen Malin.
Martha’s life was a shining example of unconditional love, resilience, and grace. She leaves behind a family whose hearts are forever touched by her kindness and the endless love she poured into every moment. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the memories she created and the bonds she strengthened.
Rest peacefully, dear Nanny, knowing your love continues to shine in the lives of those you held dear.
