On August 31, 1961 a beautiful and amazing daughter was born to A.D. and Ruby Elmore Darden in Livingston, Texas. They named this adorable little girl Mario Lanza Darden, whom everyone affectionately called, “Lynn”.
Lynn was a fighter, and no obstacle was too big of a challenge for her to overcome. At birth doctors told her parents that she would not walk, or talk, but Lynn proved them wrong. Lynn was determined to beat all odds, and that’s exactly what she did.
Mario began her educational journey at Shadydale Elementary in North Forest I.S.D. She was a 1969 graduate of Forest Brook High School. After graduation, Lynn worked with the Harris County Youth Program as an Assistant to the Summer Camp Counselor, and worked at Goodwill as a stocking associate.
Lynn always loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At an early age she dedicated her life to God and was baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church. Lynn was very active in church activities. She sang in the choir and served as an usher at Solid Rock Baptist Church. Lady Lynn was a dedicated and faithful servant.
Mario was preceded in death by her Father A.D. Darden, Mother, Ruby Elmore Williams, Brother, Andre Darden, Grandparents, Albert and Iona Elmore, Uncle, Attorney John Elmore, Aunt, Albra Elmore Holliday, and Cousin Ryan Gelzer.
Mario leaves to cherish her fond memories: Loving Aunt (Guardian) Debra Davis and Uncle, Ivory M. Davis Jr. Aunts: Emma K. Osborne (Tommy), Iona V. Tinsley, Ester D.Wynn (Leon), Omega Elmore M.D. (Ronald), and Patricia Harris. Uncles: Dennal H. Elmore (Jacqueline), James H. Elmore (Shirley), and Bennie Elmore (Miranda). First cousins: Frederick, Abbie, Dr. Tommy II, Freida, Sean, Tonya, Tiffany, Andre, Dennal, Charles, Nicole, Jacqueline, Suni, Pillar, Tami, Elizabeth, Libia, Amanda, Chrystal, Joshua, Tia, and a host of friends and the Forest Brook Family.
