Marie Tardo Ricca, 90, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022. She was born on December 22, 1931 in Houston, Texas to Josie and Nick Tardo. She attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Stephen F. Austin High School. She and her husband, Sam, owned several businesses including Leader Shoe Repair on Congress Avenue, Ricca’s Food Market off Telephone Road, and Ricca Boot and Shoe Repair in Tomball, Texas.
Marie was most recently a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Because of her fervent faith, she was a participant in Perpetual Adoration. She also served as usher and volunteered through Helping Hands, the Baking Ministry, and the Bingo concession. She and her husband hosted several St. Joseph tables in their home and worked on the St. Joseph tables at church.
Marie was devoted to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Sam Ricca and her brother Pat Tardo. She is survived by her daughters; Therese Standley and husband Jack, and Sandra Ricca and husband Steve Christie; her grandchildren Ryan Ricca, Wade Standley and wife Stacy, Cody Standley and wife Julie, Samantha Selman, Richard Christie and wife Janet, and Erica Sweet and husband Daniel; her great grandchildren Bennet Ricca, Ben and Sophia Glindeman, Eva and Mason Christie and Sloane and Quinn Sweet. She is also survived by nephew John Tardo, great nephew Michael Tardo, cousin Marie Antoinette Tardo and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Brookside Cypress Creek Funeral home, 9149 Hwy. 6 North, Houston, Texas 77095. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Houston, Texas 77065. Rite of Committal will follow in the Garden of Gethsemani at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pall bearers are Ryan and Bennet Ricca, Wade and Cody Standley, Richard Christie and John Tardo.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Society in care of Christ the Redeemer.
