July 7, 1932 – July 22, 2020
Margie Dossey was born on July 7, 1932 in Pelly, Texas to Homer J. and Thelma Wilson. Along with her sisters Betty and Faye, Margie was raised in Louisiana and Houston, Texas area. Living in the Houston Heights Margie was a proud graduate of Reagan High School in 1950. She was especially proud to be a sixth generation Texan whose ancestors Nancy and Elijah Allcorn, came to Texas with Stephen F. Austin’s first 300 in 1821.
Over a tiny water gun fight, Margie met and married Dick Dossey on September 16, 1950. They began making their home in the Houston Heights and later built a home in the Fairbanks area of northwest Houston where they lived the majority of their married life. Their life together revolved around family, friends, following school events and church. They were faithful members of both Fairbanks Baptist and Jersey Village Baptist churches.
A homemaker in the truest sense, Margie, spent her time cooking amazing meals and desserts, especially her famous Chocolate Angel Strata Pie. She was known for quietly sharing a meal or dessert with a family in need or to celebrate a birth. Her excellence with a needle and thread included perfect dresses and costumes. Margie also enjoyed serving in church children Sunday School, on the Hospitality Committee and singing in the Senior Saints choir. It is believed that her favorite daytime activity was trips to the mall and checking out sales at Foley’s, of course.
Preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Eugene (Dick) Dossey; grandson, Drew Lyons; Mother, Thelma Sidell Owens; and Father, Homer J. Wilson. Survived by daughters Loujuanna and husband Jack Lyons, and Greta Dossey; grandchildren Joseph Lyons, Sara and husband Michael Tovarez, and Jonathan Lyons; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Interment will be at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Texan by Nature, an organization designed to preserve the natural beauty of Texas, at https://texanbynature.org/donate/.
