Devoted Husband and Father
October 21, 1980 – March 19, 2016
Marcos Nava, Jr., 35, passed away Saturday March 19, 2016 while riding his motorcycle, one of his favorite hobbies, after enjoying an evening playing pool with some of his best friends.
Marcos was born in Houston, Texas, to Dianne Lord Nava and Marcos Nava, Sr. Marcos spent a great deal of his childhood in Conroe, Texas, after attending Love Elementary School in The Heights, Houston. Marcos was a member of the Class of 1999 at Northbrook High School in Houston.
Marcos worked for many years in his youth at Red Robin, where he met his future wife, Gwen Moore, and made numerous life-long friends. When his son, Dominick William Nava, was born in 2012, Marcos began a career in the tractor supply industry, in which he excelled. He especially loved working at the Lansdowne-Moody Company as a tractor part sales professional, both because of the pride he took in his work and because it allowed him to spend more time with his family. Regardless of what he was doing at any given time, he worked hard it.
In the early 2000s, Marcos and his wife Gwen joined a pool league, where he served as a Captain of several teams. Marcos’s ultimate dream was to make it to the yearly pool championship in Las Vegas, but he at least had the pleasure of watching his wife and many friends make it there. Marcos was a man of many trades and many dreams. He was a lover of cars and motorcycles and anything mechanical – both riding and restoring. He enjoyed restoring and remodeling their many homes and wanted to turn his love for power washing into his own business.
Most of all, Marcos loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son, and considered by everyone whose lives he touched a valued friend. Marcos brightened any room he was in, and the marks he left on the hearts of those who knew him will continue on in remembrance of his huge personality.
Marcos is survived by his wife, Gwen Moore; son, Dominick Nava; parents, Dianne Nava and Marcos Nava, Sr.; brother Ben Nava; sister and her husband, Ann and Travis Tucker, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Nava; grandmother Dorothy Lord; and his beloved dog Savannah.
A memorial service and gathering was held to celebrate Marcos’s life on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055. Reverend Kerry Nelson officiated.
In lieu of flowers, please forward memorial contributions to Rising Star Learning Center, 2320 Blalock Rd., Houston, TX 77080, 713-647-0061.
