M. James “Jim” Moore, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 after a brief illness. During World War II, he served in three European campaigns and rose to the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from Tri-State College (now Trine University) in Angola, Indiana and received two Engineering degrees. Before coming to Houston he worked for over a decade in the Missiles and Space Division at Cape Canaveral, Florida. He also worked as a Design Electrical Engineer in the oil and gas industry in Houston.He taught in the Mathematics Department at North Harris County College (now Lone Star College) for 21 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle Matthew Moore and Gertrude Edwards Moore and sister, Marion Prentice. Jim will be missed by his wife of nearly thirty years, Marie Moore. Jim is also survived by his stepchildren: SMSgt John “Spike” Garcia, Jr. (Ret), Leticia B. and husband David Carralez and Margo D. Escobar. Step-grandchildren: Victoria Eloisa Garcia and Nicholas Alexander Garcia; niece, Patricia and husband, Larry Summers; grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Dr Lori Summers, Valerie Castro, Cpt Daniel Summers, U.S. Air Force and John Summers; great-grand nieces: Megan Prentice and Mariana Castro. Jim was a Patriot, a Gentleman and a Father. You are loved and will be missed.
