Mike was born December 28, 1959 in Coffeyville, Kansas to John Robert Walton and Welena Spire Walton. It can be said of Mike that he truly “never met a stranger”; had a kind and generous heart; loved his family and friends deeply and was quick to greet you with a hug and a funny story. Mike graduated from Stratford High School and attended Stephen F Austin University forming deep bonds of friendship that last to this day with his fraternity brothers of Theta Chi. Mike found his true calling as a land developer – a perfect marriage of his aptitude for numbers, outgoing larger than life personality and sales skills. Professionally, he founded Mustang Development and was a prominent Land Developer in Katy and Cypress areas having developed such subdivisions as Lakes of Rosehill, Lake Pointe Estates, and Lakes of Fairhaven. He was active in his community and always quick to answer the call to support local causes and charities. Mike never did anything “halfway”. Besides his passion for his business, he always had to have a “project” which usually involved his love of boating, fishing, hunting, cooking and watching football – all things he shared with his family and friends. Nothing made Mike happier than to be doing something he loved surrounded by those he loved.
Lynda Renneẽ Brown Walton was born May 27, 1962 in Ashville, North Carolina to Jerry and Connie Brown. Lynda graduated from Ackley-Geneva HS in Iowa in 1980 and attended Tyler Jr. College. She worked for Texas Commerce Bank and in the accounting department of Randalls grocery before she and Mike married in 1989. Lynda shared with Mike an unfailing devotion to family and worthy causes. She was creative, artistic and had an “eye” for decorating especially during the holidays where she took great pleasure in making all of them special for her friends and neighbors. Lynda loved to have friends over for a spirited game of Bunco or of late, to share her most recent successful business interest, Silpada Jewelry. She loved animals and considered her cat and dog as members of the family. Lynda was a kind and nurturing mother who supported her children in all they did.
Lynda was preceded in death by her grandparents, uncle, cousin, and nephew. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents. They are survived by their four children whom they loved unconditionally, Donald, Derrick, Ryan, and Shelby Walton. Parents John and Willie Walton and Jerry and Connie Brown. Mike’s brother, Kirk (Judy) Walton and Lynda’s sisters Marcie and Kelly and brother Allen. Additionally, there are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins all of whom will miss this devoted couple who added a special dimension to all they touched.
