Lisa Joy (Kakos) Ashworth, 63, passed away in Houston, TX on December 16, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 14, 1961 to Edward Kakos and Kathleen Passmore, Lisa lived her entire life in Houston.
She graduated from Spring Woods High School, where she played in the marching band for four years. Lisa attended Sam Houston University and then began her career as a Regulatory Analyst in the oil and gas industry.
Lisa was a loyal and lifelong friend to many, and she loved spending time with those she cared about. She spread sunshine wherever she went and always saw the best in others. A striking beauty, Lisa was always impeccably dressed and never left home without her make-up and perfect accessories.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Sid Ashworth. Lisa leaves behind a brother, Edward Kakos, Jr. (Lisa) and two sisters, Karen Robertson (John) and Mary Ann Lane (Brent). Also, she was aunt to Brittany Blitzer, Olive Guyton and Hannah Kakos and stepmother to Emily Ashworth. Her fiancé Malcolm Bailey provided extraordinary love and support for ten years and during her illness. Finally, her cat Scout (who has now been relocated to her new warm and friendly home) has been her ‘baby’ for 13 years and gave her great comfort.
The family appreciates the excellent caregivers at MD Anderson over the past year and is grateful for the love and care provided by lifelong friend Charla Parker, RN. In lieu of flowers, Lisa asked that remembrances be made to the Houston SPCA, 7007 Old Katy Rd., Houston, 77024 or Houston SPCA.org.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ecclesia Houston – Westside, 325 Piney Point Drive, on Saturday, January 25, at 2 pm.
