He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Pete DeLaup of Houston. Chip is survived by his daughter, Lesley DeLaup Muth; son, Peter Talbot DeLaup; brother, Mac DeLaup; 2 sisters, Beth DeLaup Cash and Yvonne DeLaup Nickell; numerous in laws, cousins, aunts and uncles, plus his 2 treasured grand kids, Cassie Muth and Nicholas DeLaup. Chip was born in New Orleans and moved to Houston in the late 50’s with his parents, brother and sisters.
He spent 13 years in Ohio from 1966 to 1979 where he found his passion in the car business originally at O’shell Motors in Middletown, Ohio in 1967. Chip returned to Houston in 1979 to continue his career in the car business retiring from his brother’s dealership, John Eagle Honda of Houston in 2008…41 years in the car business and regarded as the “best salesman in the world!”. Chip graduated from Marion High School in 1964, joined the Marine Corps then attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and served in the Marine reserves.
Chip will be forever remembered as a kind hearted individual, great story teller and a true gentleman.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at the Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek, 9149 Hwy. 6 North in Houston at 6:00 pm on Tuesday May 29, 2012. The family wishes you to bring along and share a remembrance of Chip to the celebration of life in the form of a story or picture.
A mass will be held at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church, 3311 North Fry Road in Katy, on Wednesday May 30th at 10:00 am, where close family friend Fr. Bob Barras will officiate.
