Leroy Vincent Robinson, 82, a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas left this world on September 21, 2023, to join his bride of 43 years, Patricia “Pat” Hubbs Robinson, his maker, and numerous friends and loved ones in Heaven. Leroy was born on August 28, 1941, in Houston to Agnes Martin Sojack.
To know Leroy is to know he put the needs and joys of all others before his own. There was never any denying where one stood with Leroy but when he loved you, he loved you big. He played important roles in the lives of many, including being a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Although he had long retired from ITC (Intercontinental Terminals Company), Leroy continued to work every day of his life by giving back to his community and anyone who crossed his path whether it was mowing lawns, cutting trees, repairing houses or fences, cleaning pools, or even rebuilding equipment he found in the back of someone’s old storage shed. But his generous philanthropy was not only for people but for every animal that found its way into Leroy’s neighborhood. Animals would line up at his house to receive the best care from home-cooked roasts and fresh milk to much-needed medical care and affection.
His other passions included playing and watching golf, keeping up with football and current events, antique car auctions, spotting any 1941 Willys within eyesight – his dream car, scouting out the yards of his neighbors and coming up with ways to improve them, visiting with good company at local businesses, restaurants, and in his neighborhood, and riding around on his John Deere tractors from sunrise to sunset. For every situation, he had a solution. For every event, he had a story to share. And, for every problem, he had the answer, and he was right whether anyone agreed or not. From his humble upbringing to his high roller days in Vegas, he remained constant. Always worked to provide more for those he loved and always lent a hand to those in need.
Leroy had a style all his own from his slicked-back hair to his flashy cars and later in life his half-buttoned shirts, worn-out khaki shorts, and favorite LSU ballcap. He was a constant rock and hero to so many people in ways that he will never fully understand and will forever deny. He remained humble and honest his whole life and defined hard work and class. His boisterous deep voice, piercing blue eyes, big smile, and that massive head of hair will be missed but not as much as the comfort and resiliency he gave to everybody he helped along the way.
He leaves behind to carry on his legacy two sons, Lee Robinson (Monique) and Brandon Robinson (Crystal), grandsons Mason and Dylan Robinson, Seth and Thomas Robinson, stepsisters Mary Ellen Garrett, Shirley Vogel, Betty Warrington, and numerous family members and countless friends.
To celebrate and honor Leroy’s life, the family will receive friends at a visitation that will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in the Chapel of Angels located at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas 77023 on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and a committal service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thank you to everyone for your comforting thoughts and prayers for Leroy and the Robinson family.
