Deacon (retired) Leopold R. Moreno a devout Catholic; born August 8, 1923, passed away November 12, 2015. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eloy Moreno and son Charles Moreno. Survived by his loving wife of 70 years Rosa V. Moreno; sons, Oscar Moreno, John Moreno; daughters, Dollie Contreras, Stella Lopez, (+John), Ruth Moreno, Tessie Kempenski (Dale), Norma Baiardi (Joe), Carrie Martinez; daughter in law, Olga Moreno (+Charles);16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 siblings, Leo, Carmen, & Adela. Family was very important to him and he was so proud to be a husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He was well-loved by all who knew him. His happy personality and sense of humor was an inspiration to all who spent time around him. He is a veteran of World War II (P.O.W.), where he earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2015 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Co –Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St Joseph Pkwy, Houston, TX 77002. Funeral procession immediately following with burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. A special thank you to the staff at the V.A. Hospital and St Dominic’s Village.
