Leo Cantu Diaz Jr., age 83, of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Leo was born October 22, 1938 in Galveston, Texas. Leo received his high school diploma and served with the United States Marine Corps. from November 1955 to November 1963. Leo worked with the Texas Department of Transportation for 25 plus years, where he retired. Leo later became a bus driver for the Aldine Independent School District where he again retired after 20 plus years. Leo enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family.
Leo is preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Diaz, son, Mario Diaz, and granddaughter, Geneva Diaz.
Leo is survived by his wife, Yolanda (Maria) Cortinas Diaz, whom he married in 1978, children Rudy Diaz and wife Thelma Diaz, Rita Sanchez and husband Javier Sanchez, Leticia Diaz, Deborah Perez and husband James Perez, Leo Silva and wife Brenda Silva, Elias Diaz III and wife Leslie Claunch Diaz, and grandchildren Rudy S. Diaz, Melinda Islas, Christina Garcia, Mike Garcia, Javier J. Sanchez, Carolina Sanchez, Richard Diaz, Geneva Diaz, Delores Diaz, Esmeralda Diaz, Vivian Diaz, Anthony Diaz, Lila Diaz, Elias J. Diaz, Adalyn Diaz, James Perez, Jamie L. Perez, Elizabeth M. Perez, Christian Silva and Tori Silva. Also, Leo is blessed with many great grandchildren.
A visitation for Leo will be held Friday, November 19, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service.
