Lenora Davidson Chapman Passed away September 4, 2019 due to complications from blood clots in her leg. Lenora was born October 8, 1923 to Edith Mae Larsen Davidson and Elton Ellis Davidson in Chesterville, Texas.
She was blessed with a long healthy life. She married her high school sweetheart, John Wesley Hayes Jr, at the age of 17 in 1941 and loved him till the day she died. Following their divorce she married Bill Herrmann and they had a wonderful loving marraige till his death in 1971. She met Joe Bob Chapman at Parents without Partners (PWP) and they married in 1973 and were blessed with a long happy marriage until his death in 2001 living in Huffman, New Braunfels, Crystal Beach and Eagle Lake TX. Through her marriage to Bob her family grew adding his children James, Robert, Janet and Judy. The family never tired of the delicious home cooked meals from Bob’s garden and jars of fig preserves.
Over the years she enjoyed volunteering to collect for different charities in the neighborhood, assisting with cub scouts and brownies. She enjoyed playing 42 (dominos) and Canasta with Friends and socializing with her friends in Eagle Lake. Among these she met and enjoyed a loving special friendship with Glenn Raasch until his death in 2007.
Lenora Graduated from Reagan High School in Houston Tx in 1941. She and Wesley were blessed with a daughter, Judith Marie born in 1943, and a son, James Melton born in 1947. She was a loving, devoted mother who enjoyed being a stay at home mom, assisting with Brownies and Cub Scouts, neighborhood garden club, and collecting door-to-door for charities, tending her flower bed, etc. She was devastated by the divorce from Wesley, learned to drive and went to work for PGAC… (Pangeo Atlas Corp).in the Accounts Payable department to support her children.
She will always be remembered for her unconditional love, encouragement, and support for her family.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Edith and Elton Davidson, husbands John Wesley Hayes, Jr, William Herrmann, Joe Bob Chapman and special friend Glen Raasch. Daughter (stillborn) Patricia Ann Hayes, numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Survived by daughter Judy Rushing, Houston, son Jim Hayes (Sharon) Rockport, Tx; grandchildren Bill Mayes (Marchelle), John Mayes (Karen), Chris Mayes (Angie), Jeff Hayes (Debbie), Jeff Davis (Selma), Scott Davis (Hannah); great-grandchildren Russell Mayes (Kristina), Carli Erickson (Michael), Hunter, Allie, and Nick Mayes, Jacob Payne, Emily Hayes, Luna Davis, Amber Davis, Ashley and Courtney Harris; Great-Great Grandchildren Colby Wilkerson-Mayes, Lilah, Russell Jr, Devin, Madden and Mason Mayes, Hadley Payne, Montanna Erickson.
We would like to thank Dr. Stephen Lee and the wonderful, nurses, PCA’s and staff at Cornerstone Hospital in Bellaire for their compasionate, attentive, loving care given her the last few weeks of her life.
