Leldon Lee Want, age 80, of New Ulm, Texas passed away on Thursday October 24, 2019. Leldon was born December 21, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to the late John and Marjorie Want and was raised in Houston where he met the love of his life, Mary Lou Long. The two were married on June 21, 1956.
Leldon was a loving husband and caring father who was dearly loved by all his family and friends. An avid outdoorsman, Leldon loved to hunt, fish, and trap with anyone willing to go.
Leldon was a lifelong carpenter and had a passion for building. Although his varied interests led to him being certified in HVAC, auto mechanics, and home inspection among others, he always came back to construction. Leldon owned several construction companies and a home building business throughout his career, where his “lead by example” philosophy earned him the respect of all those he worked with.
Leldon was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Want; father, John Want; and brother, Wesley Want.
Leldon is survived by his wife, Mary Want; children, Diana Plamondon and husband Gary, Michele Conway, and Leldon Want Jr. and wife Becky; brother, Norman Want; sisters, Virgie Maguire and Darlene Knox; nine grandchildren, Joseph Conway, Jaclyn Kilani, Jessica Pietsch, Laura Hernandez, Melanie Want, Emily Conway, Amanda Want, Rachel Foti, and Allory Plamondon; seven great grandchildren, Jordan Conway, Layla and Audrey Pietsch, Luna and Noah Kilani, Eloise and Reid Hernandez.
