With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Lee P. Ramirez, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and cherished friend to many. Lee was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the age of 80, in Houston, Texas.
Born on April 9, 1943, in Beeville, Texas, Lee's journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He was heeded to the call of duty and served in the U.S. Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. He wore the honor of veteran proudly.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Olivia Pereida Ramirez, a testament to a lifelong commitment. They have five children, Ruby Lee Ramirez, Rodney Ramirez (Christina), Robin Ramirez Juhasz (Steven), Rae Lynn Ramirez Vu (Dat), and Renee Ramirez. Ten grandchildren, Zachary, Isaac, Ashley, Sophia, Daniel Lee, Nicholas, Nevaeh, Layla, Alana, and Austin Lee.
Beyond his immediate family, Lee leaves behind siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends and neighbors, all of whom were touched by his warmth.
His happy place was being by the ocean. He enjoyed weekend drives especially to Galveston, where he loved fishing and walking down The Strand. As an avid Houston sports fan, he especially loved watching the Houston Astros.
Lee's happiest moments were spent in conversation with friends and family. His daily phone calls were food for his soul and nourished the bonds that he shared with many.
A founding member of the infamous Bee Club, Lee enjoyed the monthly meetings with his hometown buddies. They shared the best of stories, lots of laughs, and some great parties together. He found camaraderie that spanned a lifetime.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Sr. and Elida Ramirez, and his eldest sister, Olga Willis (husband, Sam), waiting to welcome him home.
May Lee rest in eternal peace and may the memories of his laughter and kindness continue to bring solace to those who mourn his passing.
A visitation for Lee will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A prayer service will occur Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 22, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
