Sonny cherished the moment spent with friends and family, often reminiscing about joyful gatherings and cookouts. Known for his generous spirit, Sonny's "big heart" and acts of kindness will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
His employment involved working at several oilfield and fabrication companies in the Houston and Brenham areas. Sonny made lifelong memories with those he considered his second family while working at SCS Machine and Fabricating until its closing. In 2023, he retired from SEI Heat Treat, where he created lasting friendships.
Sonny was preceded in death by his father, Edmund "Eddie" Michalak; mother, Josephine Altman Michalak; sister, Rosie Lee Hablinski and nephew, Brian Hablinski.
Sonny is survived by his brother, Glenn P. Michalak and wife, Doris Walkoviak Michalak, brother-in-law Daniel Hablinski, nephews and nieces, Craig Hablinski and wife Gaye, Karen Hablinski Lade and husband Mike, Trenton Michalak and Marissa Michalak, great nephews, Matthew Hablinski, Zachary Hablinski, Andrew Lade, Luke Hablinski, Sean Lade and Ryan Lade.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to be said at 5:00 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060. The funeral Mass will be held, Monday, October 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, 215 E. 10th Street, Houston, TX, with interment to follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
