Lawrence “Larry” Russell Johnson was born November 2, 1930 in Houston, Texas. On May 25, 2014 in Kingwood, Texas, he went to be with the Lord. He was 83 years old. Larry graduated from Jeff Davis High School and then attended the University of Houston. He worked for Houston Lighting & Power and was a dedicated employee for 39 years before retiring in 1987. He spent his retirement enjoying his hobbies of wood working and gardening as well as spending time with his loving wife at their weekend getaway in Galveston. One of Larry's favorite past times was enjoying The Houston Astros and the Houston Texans. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years.Larry was a faithful member of North Woods Baptist Church where he made many friends. He never met a stranger and his gentle and kind love for everyone will be greatly missed, as will his great "smile and wink". His generosity was one of his many outstanding characteristics that everyone admired about him. Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Charlene Johnson, his parents Roy and Idella Johnson and brother Charles Johnson. He is survived by daughters, Peggy J. Wonzer, Beverly A. Hamilton (m. Mark), grandchildren Shauna M. Wonzer, Ronald J. Wonzer, II and Christopher L. Moore; nephews and nieces Charles Johnson, Jr., Charles Lester, Judi Shugart and Nancy Hemple.
