Kurt served as a businessman, mentor and contributor to the news, media and corporate communications industry for more than 30 years. From his early days at KHOU-TV in Houston and the Texas Network to freelancing for major news networks, Kurt was dedicated to his profession. Kurt also had a commercial career in tandem with news, working as a Director/Producer with Reebok, McDonalds & Paramount Pictures, among others.
Kurt will always be remembered as living his life to the fullest – he enjoyed his family and friends, his dogs Brando and Buddy, and classic cars. He was always up for an adventure – both big and small. Whether shooting footage while hanging out of a helicopter after a hurricane or riding on his golf cart with his nephews, friends and his dogs, Kurt loved every moment. Most importantly, those who knew him closely knew he had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others in need.
He is survived by his mother, Motie (Heller) Kuykendall; brother Thomas Kuykendall; sister, Kim (Kuykendall) Carevich; brother-in-law Brian Carevich, and nephews Ethan, Matthew and Jacob, along with a host of friends and relatives.
A service in remembrance will be held in the future. Further details will be shared with family and friends once available.
Should friends desire, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made in his memory to BEARing Gifts (Be A Resource For Kids), the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Cancer Society.
