Kenneth Lem McElroy, better known as “Butch” to his friends and family, was born on January 24th, 1951 to Jewel Ross and Calvin Ross of Ennis, Tx. Kenneth accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized at an early age. Kenneth attended and graduated from Navasota High School. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Prairie View A&M, where he also became a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.
Although he worked numerous jobs, his most rewarding career was spent at Anheuser-Busch, where he worked for over 30 years. He retired in 2016 and enjoyed watching his Dallas Cowboys play. Kenneth was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family. Shortly after his retirement, Kenneth’s health began to decline. After putting up a good fight, Kenneth was called to glory on the early morning of February, 25, 2022. At his time of passing, he was surrounded by his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Mrs. Sharon McElroy.
Kenneth “Butch” McElroy is preceded in death by his father Calvin Ross and sister Olivette Ross. He is survived by the love of his life, Sharon McElroy, his mother Mrs. Jewel Ross, six children; Detrick Boggess (Dutchess), Tiffany McElroy, Verice McElroy, Kenneth McElroy, Trenton McElroy (Marlene), Terrence McElroy, four stepchildren; Shandel Lott, DeAndre Lott, Jocelyn Lott, Sherry Reece (Jermaine) twenty-one grandchildren, and eight step-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memories; one sister, Rochelle Ross, four brothers; Shelton Ross (Sharon), Calvin Ross (Amanda), Michael Ross (Darla), and Olive Ross, father-in-law, Thaddeus Bookman; sister-in-law, Pamela Johnson (Ivory); brother-in-law, Dwayne Keeton (Yolanda). Along with a very special brother Johnny Green, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Kenneth was a hardworking man, who will be missed by all of his family and friends who knew him. May he have eternal peace with our Father who is in Heaven.
