Ken Wai Lee

Our beloved brother Ken Wai Lee, 82 y/o, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 19, 2020. Kenny was preceded in death by his father Suey Han (Henry) Lee, mother Kit Chong (Kitty) Wong Lee, and sister Leila Lee. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Susan Smith and Anna Torres.

Kenny was born on November 5, 1937, in Canton, China, premature and cared for with the help of AGoo, grandfather's sister, who breathed life into him and was with him during his years in China. Due to the Japanese invasion of China in 1938, his Dad, a native American citizen, returned to the USA with his parents and brothers. In 1949, after repeated petitioning for a passport to be granted, Kenny was finally able to reunite with his mother who had come to the USA a year earlier and to meet his father who he had never met.

At the age of 11 y/o, Kenny flew from China to New York City, via London, England, all by himself which was noted in the local newspaper, The Houston Post. He was met in New York by Grandma Gin Ho and Uncles John and Jackson due to Mom's expectant birth of Leila in Houston, TX.

In Houston, TX, Kenny graduated from Reagan High School and attended the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Army from May, 1963, through May, 1965, and successfully completed the Army Nuclear Weapons Basic Maintenance Specialist Course during his term of service. He continued with the Army Reserves until April, 1969. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from the Capitol Institute of Technology in 1971, then worked at Lockheed-Martin in Clear Lake followed by a career with Harris County Appraisal District.

Kenny is survived by his sister Lyna Lim and brothers Larry & wife Nancy, Ricky & wife Caroline and Dinny & wife Alice, nephew Jonathan & wife Nancy Lim and children Everly & Nicolas, and nephew Justin Lim and niece Jamie Lim & husband Jason Shing and daughter Penelope, niece Stephanie Lee & husband RG Beriones and children Connor & Grayson, niece Jessica Lee and niece Kacie Lee.
