Justin Wade Erwin, 40, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, in Cypress, TX. He was born on December 3rd, 1981, to Kathleen Erwin (Mahoney) and Gregg Erwin in Colorado Springs, CO.
Justin moved many times until settling in Cypress, Texas. His adaptability and resilience allowed him to overcome obstacles far better than most. Wherever he landed, his larger-than-life persona, kind heart and trademark wealth of knowledge followed.
After being awarded a Rose Scholarship from the University of Texas, he began a 17-year career in Mechanical Engineering with Bear Pump & Equipment, NOV, and Dragon Products. He patented several of his designs that are still used in the Oil and Gas Industry today. He was highly regarded and respected by his peers and colleagues within that field.
On August 31, 2016, Justin was introduced to the love of his life - the birth of his daughter, sweet Addison Mae Erwin. He loved having her with him and it was not uncommon to see her accompany him to work. Their special playtimes centered around tea parties, dress-up, and playing kitchen. Whereas puzzle time and book time was simply “Daddy” time. Her smile and laughter lit up his world. She has quite the personality, and had her daddy firmly wrapped around her little finger.
Justin loved the Dallas Cowboys, even with their disappointing seasons - which were numerous. He loved Maui, gaming and his Mustang. His favorite movies were Tombstone and Star Wars. He was a huge fan of Metallica and enjoyed The Beatles as well. He disliked vegetarians. And loathed the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans. He was quite the cook and a voracious reader. He loved being in the company of friends.
Justin was a brilliant young man with a giving and caring soul. He would do anything for anyone, almost to a fault. His wit, contagious laugh and true empathy for others will never be forgotten. He was a true Renaissance man - someone who demonstrated grace and exemplified kindness. Men like Justin only come once in a lifetime. How fortunate we are to have met him in ours.
Justin is survived by his daughter, Addison Mae Erwin; his mother, Kathleen (Mahoney) and father, Gregg Erwin and wife, Alicia; his sisters, Meredith and Alissa Erwin; and his close friends, mentors and extended family that he touched during his short life.
Thank you to those who loved Justin dearly and helped him become the wonderful person he was.
A celebration of life will be held at Cypress Creek Lakes Clubhouse in Cypress, TX on Saturday, August 13th at 1-4 pm. **10702 Cypress Creek Bend Lane, Cypress, TX 77433**
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you keep Justin alive through conversations, in thoughts and in memories, for he was far too unique to let time pass.
“I’m your huckleberry.” My, how fitting those words are for you, Justin. You are loved forever.
