Julia was born in Ozone Park, New York, and remained a proud New Yorker.
Julia is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, the late Frank J. Kalman.
She leaves behind her son, Francis S. Kalman and beloved daughter-in-law, Gloria Kalman; granddaughters, Lauren Kalman Summerville and Jennifer Kalman Fuentes, their husbands, Scott C. Summerville and Javier A. Fuentes; and four great-grandchildren all of Houston.
Julia’s life was centered around her love of family and baking. She will be remembered as a loving mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend. Julia cherished her 15 years of volunteer work at the Kingwood Medical Plaza. She was quick to make friends laugh and enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be deeply missed.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock this afternoon until seven o’clock this evening, Thursday, the 22nd of March, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 23rd of March, also at St. Michael Catholic Church, where the Rev. Sean P. Horrigan, Pastor of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, is to serve as the celebrant.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in memory of Julia may be directed to the Catholic Charities of Galveston and Houston, 2900 Louisiana St., Houston, TX, 77006; or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX, 75284.
