Joyce Louise Thames

Joyce Louise Thames went home to be with our Lord Tuesday morning, June 13, 2023, at the age of 69. She passed away peacefully at her home, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 3, 1953 in Pasadena, TX. She graduated from Furr High School in 1971. She went on to marry her forever love, Glynn Thames, in 1971. Joyce and Glynn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021. Their love story was one of strength, honor, and faith in the Lord.

Joyce is survived by her husband Glynn; her son Shannon and wife Amber; her son, Jeremy and wife Stacie; three grandchildren, Faith, Summer, and Jordan; sister Ruth Hicks; brother Lloyd Hicks and wife Sally; and brother John Hicks and wife Nancy.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Anna May Hicks.

Joyce was most happy when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She looked forward to spending time with friends, who visited her frequently at home. She loved so much being “Grammy” to her 3 grandchildren. She played an important role in the lives of so many, but none was more important to her, than being a mother to her two sons. She shared so many wonderful memories with her loved ones - skydiving, MS 150, Disneyworld, Arkansas vacations, cruises, and more.

Despite the physical challenges she endured throughout the last half of her life, her faith in the Lord remained steadfast and strong. She was a faithful member of Sagemont Church. Her faith was highly respected among those that knew her best.

A visitation for Joyce will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 19, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A graveside service will occur Monday, June 19, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
