Born in August of 1914 in Houston, Josephine was the daughter of Oliva and Vincenzo Orlando. Josephine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was proud of her Italian heritage. She was a long time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she faithfully served for many years as a lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She was involved in many clubs and organizations, including Catholic Daughters, Charity Guild of St. Joseph, Ladies of Sacred Heart, Maria del Balzo, the Over 200 Bowler’s Club, and Young at Heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard L. Marino, her son Johnny, her sister Lucille Lazarone, and all six of her brothers: Paul, Tony, Louis, Sam, John and Luke Orlando. She is survived by her children Vincent L. Marino (and wife Susan), Bernard J. Marino (and wife Linda), and Virginia Tubbs (and husband William); grandchildren Cathy Vanderford, Jeff Marino and Michelle Brown; Michael Marino, John Marino, Shawn Marino; Bernardette Scambray, Joseph Lasala, Jr., and Veronica Millare; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 29th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock.
The Mass of Christian Burial is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 30th of January, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway in Houston, where the Rev. Monsignor William L. Young, Pastor, is to serve as celebrant.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers during the services are Jeff Marino, Joseph Lasala, Jr., John Marino, Shawn Marino, Benny Orlando, and Louis Orlando.
