On Tuesday, May 6, during a most beautiful Texas sunny afternoon, God very peacefully summoned his faithful servant, Joe Schillaci, to his eternal reward while surrounded by close family members and friends. Joe was born in Houston on July 13, 1936 and spent the past 28 years as a resident of Sugar Land. Always active and contributing to his community, Joe served many years on the Sugar Land Planning and Zoning Commission, and also on the Municipal Utility District Board of Hall Lake. A longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Joe and his wife were parishioners of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land. Joe had an extensive successful career with Ingersoll Rand, including global assignments shared with his wife. In retirement, Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing often. Always meeting you with a smile, Joe's love for his family, friends, associates, and anyone he met was solid proof that his faith in God was exemplified by his outgoing attitude towards all. Joe is survived by his loving wife Loretta, daughter Sabrina, granddaughter Sydney and husband Danny Babb. Also surviving is his brother, Gene Schillaci and wife Janet. Joe's life will be celebrated with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday, May 9 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd. (7th Street & Burney Road), Sugar Land followed by a rosary at 11:00 am with Father Roy Oggero presiding. The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Mass at 11:30 am following the rosary at St. Theresa Church with Reverend Stephen B. Reynolds presiding, followed by the Rite of Committal at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery at 6900 Lawndale in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77498 in Joe's name for a special remembrance.
