He was born in Manhattan, New York on November 25, 1940. He grew up in Garwood and Clark, New Jersey and graduated from Arthur L. Jackson Regional High School in 1958. He served in the U.S.Army from 1959-1962. He met his beautiful wife, Carolyn Glass in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He then made his way to Texas in 1965 where he worked for Southwestern Bell, now AT&T, starting April 12, 1965, as an in house technician for over 39 years where he retired around 2004. He became a World Class Skeet Shooter, winning awards, between 1987- 1990 but continued the love of skeet shooting up until his death at Greater Houston Gun Club where he was a member for over 40 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn, his sister Gloria Antonucci and parents Alice and Joseph J. Rock , Sr
He is survived by his children, Bridgette (Kevin) Larkins and family of Highbridge, New Jersey, Michael Rock of Austin, Texas and Michelle Rock of Houston, Texas. His Brother, Dennis and Carol Rock of Plantersville, Texas, His Brother Chris and Barbara Rock of Eugene, Oregon. His sister Ellen Karalis of Cleveland, Texas. His Niece, Celeste Levingston and Nephew Alan Rock and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews, relatives, and friends in various parts of the country that he truly loved dearly. The family would also like to express gratitude to his cousin Torino and Janet Del Prete.
A memorial service, officiated by Rev. C. McAllister “MAC” Vaughn, will be held Wednesday, October 2nd at 11:15 am at American Heritage Funeral Home with a committal service with military honors to follow at Houston National Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone back at American Heritage Funeral Home for a reception with refreshments after the committal service.
