Joseph Westly Lee Guidy, affectionately known as Westly, was born on June 27, 1950, in DeRidder, Louisiana the cherished eldest son of Lawrence and Pearl (Richard) Guidry. He also had a brother, Dennis Guidry, who all preceded him in death.
During the Vietnam War, Joseph served his country in the Navy as a Gunners Mate on a Destroyer ship before dedicating several years to Conrail Railroad upon his return home, where he eventually retired.
Above all, Joseph treasured his family, finding his greatest joy in their company. He had a passion for fishing, driving cars, embarking on road trips, and playing cards, particularly spades and bid whist. He was the heart of lively family cookouts, where his presence was always felt.
He leaves behind a legacy cherished by his children: Joseph Guidry, Jr. of Hartford, CT; Tanya (Warren) Ward of Bloomfield, CT; Josiah Guidry of Syracuse, NY; and Kevin (Nadia) Purifory. He was a proud grandfather of Celeste, Daeja, Kyanna, Imani, Trevon, Warren, Jr., Autumn, Zion, Layla, Joseph, Sofia, Anthony, Carissa, Gianna, Nadia, Gabriella, Kevin and great-grandfather to Harlem and Onyx.
He is survived by his siblings, including Ramona Thomas of Springfield, MA; Pronolia (Joseph) Chavis; Lawrence Marie Clark of Chicopee, MA; Ronona Mensah of New Iberia, LA; Kenneth (Winifred) Guidry of Houston, TX; Deborah Dorlouis of Ludlow, MA; and Michael (Eunice) Guidry of Springfield, MA, Joseph was cherished by his extended family.
On Monday, February 26, 2024, Joseph peacefully transitioned from this life. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra Guidry, along with a multitude of cherished memories, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold him dear.
