Joe was born on 2/9/1942 to Sam and Nettie in Poughkeepsie, New York. He attended the New York Military Academy before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.
After the marines he returned to New York where he married his wife Paula in 1965 and went on to have four children: Sonya, Renee, Danielle and Joseph. In Texas Joe became a successful contractor and was able to employ both friends and family.
After retirement Joe spent his remaining time being present in his grandchildren’s lives, eating breakfast almost every morning with his friends, hosting holidays in his home, watching old westerns on TV, and being an absolute pillar of strength and love for his entire family.
Joe was predeceased by Sam and Nettie Gentile (parents), Sonya Gentile (daughter), Francis DePaolo (sister). He is survived by Paula Gentile (wife), Elizabeth Germano (sister), Renee Foss (daughter), Danielle Vesmirovsky (daughter), Joseph Gentile (son) and his grandchildren, Mason, Alexis, Madison, Riley and Reagan, and great-grandchild Adeline.
Visitation with the family was held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, Texas, where funeral services began at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services and interment followed at 1:45 p.m. in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., where military honors were provided by members of the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.
