Houston – Josefina Jasso Rocha, 82, entered into eternal life; surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
Josefina, “Josie”, as she was known to her family and friends, was born February 21, 1934 in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Pedro Jasso and Juanita Escamilla Jasso. She was married to Juan Picon Rocha on December 26, 1951 and raised 5 children: (2) daughters and (3) sons. Josie was a loving and caring mother, devoted to her family.
Josefina was a faithful prayer warrior of the Lord. You could always count on her for a prayer and a blessing. Before her illness, she would religiously wake up at 5 o’clock to start her morning prayers. She would pray for everyone who had requested a prayer. Once you got on her prayer list, by golly, you stayed on it!
One of her other joys was cooking for her family and friends. Her specialty dishes were her homemade Flour Tortillas, Menudo, Tamales, Mole and Rice. For a person unable to tolerate hot and spicy, she could whip up the best salsas. Anyone who visited her could always count on good company and a delicious meal.
Josie also had a passion for sewing, crocheting and gardening. She loved fresh flowers, especially the ones from her garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her husband, Juan Picon Rocha.
She is survived by her daughters Mary Rocha, Rita Sanchez (Jorge); sons Joe (Rosa) Lupe (Nancy) and Johnny (Rachel), 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relative.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Friends of Down Syndrome “Lifelong Education and Learning Program”.
