Johnnie S. Reaves of Katy, Texas peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015. She was born on April 12, 1928 in Tenaha, Texas. She was the daughter of John Ferrin Stanley and Virginia Parker Stanley.
She moved with her parents to Austin, Texas in 1940. After graduating from Austin High School in 1945 she attended the University of Texas and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She also attended Stephen F. Austin where she met her future husband, Perry M. Reaves. Johnnie and Perry were married on March 9, 1950 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on May 28, 2002.
She was a member of First Methodist Houston Church, downtown and was with CBS Bible study for many years. She became a member of PSP after her twin sister was diagnosed with this illness and tried to help and comfort others that were going thru this also.
Her love of history and being a member of the DAR lead her to writing our Stanley Genealogy Book. Johnnie’s love of life and laughter brought a smile to everyone she met, even when diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. She was always ready to step in wherever needed.
She is survived by her two children, Richard M. Reaves, and Jill Reaves Viniconis; two grandchildren, “Bud” and “Katie” Viniconis; many wonderful nieces, nephews, and her god-daughter, Lisa Ashworth.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Methodist Church, PSP Group, Macular Degeneration, or charity of your choice.
