Ruth Cook, 94 of Houston, Texas was born September 27, 1925 in Somerville, Texas to Charles and Alma (Calvin) Scott and passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Ruth was an ideal parent, grandparent, great-grandparent and a perfect role model for her family. Her family was her #1 priority. She was a wonderful cook who was known for her fried chicken and cinnamon rolls. She attended Klein United Methodist Church for the past 15 years; she enjoyed playing bingo, board games and crossword puzzles. She had a sharp mind and was patient and nurturing even tempered loving mother to her family. She was also a huge Astros fan who enjoyed keeping up with all of the player’s statistics. She enjoyed reading and studying the bible and was well versed in its teachings.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years, Ocie Rudolph Cook; sisters, Grace Scott Durdin, Elsie Scott Clardy and Alice Scott Cooley and survived by her 2 sons Larry Rudolph Cook and wife, Nancy Plaster Cook; Kenneth Wayne Cook and wife, Barbara Cook; grandchildren, Jason Cook and wife, Christina; Kala Cook Christopherson and husband, Steve, Lindsay Cook Gentilini and husband, Michael and Dallas Cook Bosveld and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Haley Christopherson, Reagan Christopherson, Carrington Cook, Parker Cook and Cooper Cook.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Earthman Resthaven with visitation beginning at 12:00pm until service time with burial following at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Cook, Steve Christopherson, Michael Gentilini and Ryan Bosveld.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse-Humanitarian Aid Organization (www.samaritanspurse.org) in memory of Johnnie Ruth Cook.
