John Patrick Smith, 58, died Sunday May 20th 2012 in Houston, Texas. He was born on June 17th, 1953 in Kingston-Upon-Thames, UK to the late Ronald and Mary Smith.
John trained originally as a ships radio officer but switched careers working as an instrumentation engineer in the oil and gas survey industry. His work took him all over the globe and he never lost his love of travel and discovering new places. For the past 15 years John ran his own company based in Houston leasing technical equipment to the survey industry. He was an avid book reader and an accomplished musician.
He is survived by two brothers: Peter Edward Smith of Manchester, UK and Anthony Christopher Smith of London, UK and two nieces: Natasha and Isabel.
A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 at 11:00AM in the Chapel at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055. A reception will follow in The Atrium at Waltrip Funeral Directors.
