John Hobbs Kelley was born February 13, 1933 to John and Sarah Virginia Bruce Kelley in Mineola Texas. He graduated from Mineola High School and attended SMU on a Football scholarship. He graduated from Baylor University in 1954 with a B.A. degree in Business.
John married Emojean Baker of Woodville Texas in 1956. The couple lived in Germany for two years during John’s service in the Army. The couple traveled Europe extensively during this time. They returned to Houston in 1957 and have three children: Karmen, Shaun and Shannon, and Four granddaughters, Shayla, McKenna, Skyla and Emma. John Owned a Firestone Tire store for many years before being Elected City Councilman for District G in Houston where he served two terms.
John was very devoted to his Family. They were the love of his life. In addition to his family a special acknowledgement to our Dear friend Gretta Kleyhons and his care givers Faustino Varquera and Richard Cox for all the love and support they furnished.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020, 6-9 at Forest Park Westheimer. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020, 2 pm in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer, Interment and Reception will follow.
