On Sunday the 24th of March 2024, John Willard "Jody" Jordan, with his beloved wife Willie Chalker Jordan by his side, peacefully entered his eternal life with our savior, Jesus Christ after a brief illness at the age of 71.
Jody grew up in Dallas and was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church until he moved to Houston in 1976 where he was a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years. His strong faith provided the very foundation of Jody’s life, and the foundation of his marriage. A man of faith, Jody was an active and longtime member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and participated in their caring ministries.
Jody graduated from Southern Methodist University, with a B.B.A. in Real Estate Finance in 1975. He played the trumpet in the SMU Band. He loved music of all kinds. He married the love of his life, Willie Jean Chalker on August 17th, 1985. To say that Willie was the love of his life was evident from the first time you met them and ever after – it was clear that they were meant for each other and adored each other. Together they formed a bond rarely seen or known by many. It seemed as though “Willie and Jody” was one word, that’s how close they were. Their large circle of close friends span the country, and the two of them enjoyed spending time with them whenever they could. Jody and Willie were excellent hosts and conversationalists, lifetime fitness and sports buffs (Jody had a hole in one at the Sweetwater Country Club in 2003), wine aficionados, and devoted Dallas Cowboy fans. They were always a joy to be around.
Professionally, Jody had a successful career in the Mortgage Insurance industry and went on to enjoy additional success as a Mortgage Banker with a career that spanned over 4 decades. He was soft spoken, had very strong values and along with his positive energy was widely respected during his career by coworkers and colleagues. Always impeccably dressed, those who knew Jody would agree that he was a beautiful person, both inside and out.
In addition to his precious wife, Jody is survived by his brother Frank Jordan and wife Pamela, Brothers-in-law David Chalker and wife Patsy, William Coley Chalker Jr. (Bill) and wife Liz; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Jody was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Hotchkiss Jordan and Dorothy Louise Jordan, plus numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, especially nurses Alex and Natalie.
