John Allan "Oscar" Garies was born May 19, 1933 in Houston Texas and passed away December 6, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Garies, brother Donald F. Garies and sons Michael Scott Garies and John Allan Garies, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Shirley and daughter Wendy Garies Musachia & husband John, Grandchildren Joel Garies (Kletia), Annie Garies Pierce (Joe Bob), Paul Musachia (Crystal), Allan Garies, Daniel Garies, Elizabeth Anne Musachia Fedell (Zach), and Jennifer Garies. Great-grandchildren McCaffrey Musachia, Morwenn Musachia and Juniper Garies. He is also survived by one brother Irwin, "Hap" Garies & wife Linda. Oscar was involved in the marine/towboat industry all his working life. He owned Channel Engine and Cardinal Diesel and along with his brothers also owned Liquid Transfer Inc. and Transcity Marine Co. His towboats served the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers and Intracoastal Waterways. Oscar was a member of Lake Houston United Methodist Church, Trailblazers Class. He enjoyed his family and pets, RV camping and travel, squaredancing, birding, and the friendships he shared with those involved.
Funeral Services will take place at Lake Houston United Methodist Church 23606 FM 2100 Huffman, TX 77336 at 11 A.M. with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment Services wil be held at 2:30 P.M. in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
