John Hogan Choate

John Hogan Choate was born July 10, 1934 in Booneville, AR to Ewelle Franklin Choate and Davis Lorene Hogan Choate. He passed away January 27, 2013 in Humble, TX. John moved to Houston with his family in 1938 when his father became owner/pharmacist of Peterson Drug Store in old Harrisburg. He is a gradute of Milby High School and the University of Houston and served two years in the United States Army. John spent his career in various positions with Houston Lighting and Power Company/Houston Industries, retiring in 1993 as assistant director in the governmental affairs department. During retirement John enjoyed golfing with the OAFS, volunteering for Humble Are Ministries and traveling the United States in his RV. An elder in PCUSA, John served on the Session of Atascocita Presbyterian Church where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 1:00PM. John is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife Grayce of 56 years; son, John & wife Cyndi; daughters: Jennifer & Suzanne Choate; grandsons: Luke & wife Karis, Micah & Jacob Choate and Hogan Luttrell; granddaughters: Kristal Knapek, Amber Vela & husband Michael and Maryjane Gold; great grandchildren: Elijah Duncan, Izabella Jordan & Alexzander Vela; sister, Elizabeth Gable; nephew, Brad Gable & wife Kathy. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Atascocita Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Humble Area Assistance Ministries.
