Joe Yee, a lifelong sports enthusiast, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2016 at the age of 60. Kai Chung, Joe, was born in Hong Kong, China on February 16, 1955 and immigrated to the United States in 1959. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he became an intramural softball champion and devoted Longhorn supporter.
He is survived by his daughters, Erin and Kristen Yee; two granddogs, Kokonut and Hamlet Yee; six brothers, Kai Kong and wife, Virginia Yee, Ronald and wife, Barbara Yee, Larry and wife, Dorothy Yee, John and wife, Jenny Yee, Steven and wife, Mary Yee, and David Yee; sister, Sandra and husband, Sam Cornelius and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by father, Gar Fong Yee and mother, Chui-Ying C. Yee.
Joe was a "cool dad", teller of bad jokes, and obligatory fashion advisor to his daughters. He enjoyed playing softball, attending the Astros games, rock concerts, reading the newspaper, crabbing, and kayaking. He was an active member of the Bayou City Outdoors club.
