Joseph "Joe" Kmiecik, 56, was welcomed Home on April 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in Houston, Texas. Joe was the eighth of nine children in the Kmiecik family. He worked for Central Freight Lines and at their family bakery that his mother started, ABC Bakery.
Joe was an entertaining story teller that captivated all ears. He was a steady jokester with numerous pranks up his sleeve. Further, Joe's quick wit left a smile on each face in his company. He read the newspaper each day, and his memory, filled with facts, was unbelievably limitless. It was compelling to hear all he knew - whether recalling names (even those he had only met once), providing exact directions (without ever owning a cell phone to use Google maps!) or even his ability to mentally calculate numbers. He was truly an impressive book of knowledge. Joe was a simple and an independent man always on the go. He reflected the love and gratitude that his parents instilled in him, and he generously shared it with those he loved - his family, his friends and many others.
Joe was a family man. He was the tender brother and fun-spirited uncle. He also had an abundance of friends. His friendship networks extended from the dog track to the casino where he was so fondly known and embraced.
Some of his many passions included golfing, playing poker, fishing, hunting, and playing softball. Remarkably, he was the first to offer an extra hand, which reflects his caring heart. Above all, he lived his life for others as a child of God - always serving and bringing laughter.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, John Kmiecik; mother, Therese Kmiecik; sister, Joan Landry; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Kmiecik. He was survived by his sisters: Joyce Michel, Jacqueline Kmiecik, Julie Clifton and husband Ronnie Clifton, Jeanne Kmiecik, and Jennifer Pierucci and husband Joseph Pierucci; brothers: John Kmiecik; Jerome Kmiecik and wife Susan Kmiecik; nieces: Alexis Lane and husband Kyle Lane, Janielle Dennis and husband Keith Dennis, Jacey Kmiecik, Jillian Pierucci, Julianna Landry, Katharine Kmiecik, Kelly Kmiecik, Jocelyn Kmiecik and Sarah Kmiecik; nephews: Justin Landry, Nicholas Landry and wife Becca Landry, and John David Kmiecik; great nieces; great nephews; and many other extended family members.

Foley Funeral Home located at 1200 W 34th Street in Houston, Texas. On Friday, April 20th, a Mass will take place at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at 10 am located at 1511 TX-90 in Anderson, Texas followed by the burial at 11 am and then a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in support of The Eddy Scurlock Stroke Center for the Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 4384, Houston, Texas 77210-4384.
