She attended Incarnate Word Academy during which time she met her future husband, Lowell D. Russell. While Lowell was away serving in World War II she worked as Ms. Classified for the Houston Chronicle and as a florist as well. Once Lowell returned from the war they started their family and she devoted her time to being a mother and homemaker. She was a charter member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she served as a President of the Alter Society and volunteered throughout the church community. She had many hobbies that included sewing, reading, camping, arts and crafts, and baking. She enjoyed being active at St. Rose of Lima Elementary where all of her children attended school and loved attending all of their high school sporting events from track and field to football. Known as ‘grandma’, she drew much joy from seeing her family grow and was so excited to attend two of her granddaughters’ weddings this year.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lowell and daughter Patricia. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara, son David and his wife Susan and grandchildren Kimberly and Katie; son John and grandchildren Jana, Audrey, and Andrew; and son Paul, wife Tammy and grandchildren Paul Jr. and Lauren.
She was a devout Catholic and had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her family has comfort knowing she is in the loving arms of our Lord where she is forever beautiful, happy, and free of all pain and suffering.
Visitation will be held Monday September 21 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church from 5 to 7p.m. with rosary to follow. Her funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday September 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
