Jean Alice Cook

Jean Alice Divine Cook, age 84, passed away peacefully July 9, 2022. She suffered for 10 years with Dementia. Jean was a devoted member of West University Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ruth Divine.

Jean was born in Bryan, Texas on August 31, 1937 to Mary Ruth and John Divine.

She is survived by her loving husband Ray Gene Cook of 66 years in Houston and her 3 children and their spouses, Ray Gene Cook II and Elizabeth Ann Wilbanks Cook, Ginger Rae Cook Mitchell and David Lynn Mitchell and Sherilyn Cook Goebel and Bret Mitchell Goebel. Jean has 7 grandchildren and their spouses Lady Ann Cook Loving and Ryan, Ray Gene Cook III and Leigh Ann, Cynthia Michelle Goebel Albers and Jack, Andrew Mitchell Goebel and Veronica, Maegan Rae Mitchell Meeker and Brian, McKenzie David Mitchell and Jessica, Vanessa Lynn Mitchell Hernandez and Ehiram. Jean was blessed with 14 great grandchildren Ray Gene Cook IV and Julia Cook, Dylan, Zoe and Luke Loving, Jackson Albers, Grace and Emma Goebel, Nathan Wilkinson, Jaelen Brooks, Jacob and Gavin Hernandez, Rylie and Madison Meeker.

Jean and her parents moved to Houston where she attended Henderson Elementary, Jackson Jr. High and then Stephen F. Austin High School. She later attended University of Houston with a degree in Elementary Education.

Jean will be missed dearly by all her friends and family. She was a devout Christian and loved the Lord with all her heart and soul.
