Jean Howard Brandt, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, was born on March 17, 1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024 at the age of 88. At the time of her passing, Jean was living in Friendswood, Texas, after living a life enriched by diverse experiences and deep connections across the many places she made her home. Jean and Allen raised three daughters: Linda McSwain, Cindy Crosson, and Susan Hopper.
Jean's early years were shaped in Tulsa and Houston. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1954 and attended SMU in Dallas where she laid a foundation for the enriching life she would lead. She married Allen Brandt in 1956, embarking on a lifelong adventure filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences. Throughout her life, Jean carried with her a zest for new ventures, having lived in St. Louis, Missouri; Chicago, Illinois; Solon, Ohio; Houston, Texas; Tokyo, Japan; and Friendswood, Texas.
Jean was a passionate traveler and created unforgettable memories with her daughters on many mother-daughter trips. She and Allen embarked on countless adventures, traversing the globe many times. Their wanderlust was infectious and they made it a priority to include their daughters and their husbands in extraordinary travels.
Jean was an exceptional card player and her strategic mind and competitive spirit made her a formidable opponent at the bridge table, earning her the title of Life Master. She and Allen not only lived their life around bridge, but they also enjoyed playing golf, attending football games, cheering on the Oilers, the Texans, and always the Aggies. She was an amazing gourmet cook and could create anything from scratch, believing that food made with love and fresh ingredients was essential.
Jean is survived by her beloved daughters Linda and husband Mike of Houston, Tx; Cindy and husband Jim of Friendswood, Tx; and Susan and husband John of Dallas, Tx; her six grandchildren: Katie Crosson Turner and husband Jeremy of Friendswood, Tx; James Crosson and wife Jenna of League City, Tx; Andrew McSwain and wife Carina of Vilseck, Germany; Kellie Crosson Mahon and husband Andrew of Friendswood, Tx; Michael McSwain and wife Marie of Ludowisci, Georgia, and John Allen Hopper and wife Shannon of Paradise, Tx; and 15 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at Memorial Oaks on Friday, Nov 15 , providing an opportunity for her immediate family and friends to celebrate Jean's life and bid her a loving farewell.
