Jared Scott Enger

Jared Scott Enger, 34 years old, passed away in Houston, Texas on August 24, 2018. Jared will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend, and warrior. His smile, laugh and sense of humor put everyone he met at ease and made him lifelong friends around the world.

Jared was an enthusiastic entrepreneur when he passed. Prior to that, he was a successful licensed commercial insurance account executive. The one career that Jared loved the most was that of a United States Army Cavalry Scout. Sergeant Jared Enger was born to be a warrior and cavalry scout. He led a highly successful 10 man Stryker Combat Vehicle team during two tours in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. He earned the respect and admiration of all those who served with him for his bravery, love of his fellow soldiers, and selfless service.

The highlight of Jared’s last combat tour in Iraq was having his brother and fellow cavalryman, Major Jordan Enger administer the oath of reenlistment. Later during that tour, Jordan’s commander arranged for a helicopter to escort Jared to Jordan’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) so they could spend Christmas together. Jared was a graduate of the University of Houston and was a very proud Cougar!

Jared’s proudest achievement was that of a loving father to two very beautiful and special children, Mikayla and Killian. They were the absolute joys of his life, and he loved to spend time coaching both in various sports, taking them sporting events, movies, playing video games, and just being a really “cool” dad to his children.

Jared was preceded in death by his great grandparents Ethel and Jake Franks, grandparents Katherine and Donovan MacPherson and Betty and Hugh Brotherton. He is survived by Cassandra Enger and their children Mikayla and Killian Enger, his mother Diana Bacque, his step-mother Mary Lynch and father Scott Enger, his brother and sister-in-law Jordan and Amanda Enger and nephew Jason. He is also survived by his aunts Ann Lynch and Debbie DeRisio, and many other family members, friends, soldiers, and coworkers.

In lieu of flowers, Jared’s family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Fisher House Foundation, which provides temporary housing for wounded warriors and their families while receiving care at our nation’s military and veterans hospitals.
