Beloved mother, loving grandmother, and favorite aunt passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, after a valiant fight with Multiple Myeloma lasting over 3 years.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, daughter, Cheryl and son in law, Miguel Escobedo, son, Frank Torres, granddaughter Amanda Torres, Fur babies Scooby, Wiggles, Chiquita and Blossom, faithful loyal companions, as well as many family, friends and wonderful neighbors.
Mother is preceded in death by parents, Francisco and Felicitas Torres, brother, Angel (Jimmy) Torres and sister, Stephena (Nena) Mares.
Mother loved life, never met a stranger, and never missed a party. She fought a courageous battle to stay alive to see her grand daughter, Amanda, graduate high school and enter college. Mother’s favorite was the family time spent at the lake house, especially with the apple of her eye, granddaughter, Amanda. She loved making big meals on holidays for family and friends. Mother loved plants and gardening in her yard. She also had an especially big heart for animals.
Mother loved her country and was very proud to have served in the United States Air Force. The American Flag was always on display on holidays and she reminded us to vote on every Election Day. Mother loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many cities.
In her final days, Mother did not want the help and wanted to remain independent as long as possible. We use to joke that her favorite hobby was washing clothes during her illness.
A heart felt appreciation to nephew, Samuel Mares, and all of her caring neighbors that kept a close eye on mother. Plus, the doctors at Memorial Northwest for their care and treatment: Dr. Vinod Bhuchar, Dr. Shahab Khan, Dr. Raj Shenava, Dr. Salim, and Dr. Salim Lakhani.
In lieu of flowers, a memorium in honor of Janie Torres can be sent to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, tribute #38009069, P O Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or by calling 1-800-822-6344.
