Janie Plascencia Ruiz was born on September 13, 1941 in Tepatitlan Jalisco Mexico. Born to Paulina Plascencia, she grew up with her older sister Ramona in both Mexico and California. Janie would later attend cosmetology school and would go on to have a successful career in hairdressing for over 50 plus years. She had quite the loyal following, with many of her clients becoming her close friends. In July of 1961, she would marry the love of her life, Jesse Ruiz. In addition to marrying Jesse, she would also inherit three younger brothers, Joe, Frank, and Richard. In the following years she would help the Ruiz family grow, with the addition of Jesse Jr, Paula, Veronica, and even though a little late, Jessika. Later in life, both Jesse and Janie would study and become United States citizens, a very proud and hard-earned moment for them both. Janie is also to be credited with helping keep so many families together. While embracing her new life in the United States, she never forgot her family in Mexico, and helped quite a few people make their way here to better lives. She was always a safe place to land for anyone in need. Whether it be an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on, and for some a place to lay their head. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Bingo with her friends, and the weekly family poker game held for over twenty years at her home. She was a diehard Astros fan, that hated to miss any game and was thrilled to see them win their first world series. Momo, as she would affectionately be known later in life, was able to form a unique bond with every person that came into her life, whether they be family or friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Jesse Sr, and her son Jesse Jr. She is survived by daughters Paula Mendoza, husband Robert Mendoza Sr, Veronica Monterrey, husband George Monterrey, Jessika Jane Ruiz, and daughter in law, Dixie Ruiz, wife to Jesse Jr, grand children Joshua Luciano Ruiz, Amelia Ruiz, husband Jesse Portillo Jr, Robert Mendoza Jr, wife Belinda Mendoza, George Monterrey, Arica Monterrey, Sarah Garza, husband Michael Garza, Natalie Virginia Messa, Ethan Wallace Carranza, great grandchildren Chloe Mendoza, Isabella Mendoza, Nicholas Mendoza, Makayla Garza, Sabrina Garza, Caleb Portillo, and Sofia Garza.
