Jan is survived by her mother, Lorraine Theresa Adams Burns; her sister Caren Alice Burns and partner Richard Woodfin of Cypress, Texas; her aunt Eloise Adams and her family from the Norman, Oklahoma area; her cousins Greg Liverman and wife Wendy Dillenschneider of Florissant, Colorado and Judy Collins and husband Richard Parker of Boerne, Texas; and dear friend JJ Smith of Houston.
Jan earned a bachelors degree from Texas Tech and Masters degrees from Tulane University and the University of Texas at Arlington. She was active professionally in marketing and event planning for Houston area non-profits for many years.
Jan loved her animals, flowers, music, dancing, entertaining, cooking and life. An accomplished chef, her seafood gumbo would put many a New Orleans restaurant to shame. Her dinner parties were memorable not only for the food and table setting, but for the entire experience. Her Easter egg hunts were legendary.
We will deeply miss Jan’s bright smile, sharp wit and warm friendship.
A memorial service with a catered reception will be held on Friday, August 26th, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
